Prospective Families! Learn more about St. Laurence.

Billed as “the fastest game on two feet,” the St. Laurence lacrosse program began in 2010. It emphasizes academics over athletics, and all players are expected to excel in the classroom and on the
field. Lacrosse is an action-packed sport that requires endurance, speed, and quickness, but athletes of all ability levels are able to play. The lacrosse program competes at the fresh-soph and varsity
levels. Since its inception, the program continues to grow in numbers and success. The coaches and student-athletes are striving to make STL the premier lacrosse program on the Southside.

Coach Sopko, a lifelong Oak Forest resident, brings over 25 years of coaching experience to St. Laurence. He is a graduate of Illinois State University, where he was first introduced to lacrosse. Sopko has played an integral role in growing the game in the Southland area, having started the Oak Forest Fury youth program and also launching the lacrosse team at High School District 228. He served as Director and Coach of both programs.
