Dear St. Laurence Families,

There have been no COVID-19 cases at St. Laurence High School.

With that being said, our administration has been taking proactive measures to fulfill our number one priority, which is to maintain the health and wellness of our students. Throughout this process, we have sought out information and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, Archdiocese of Chicago, Illinois State Board of Education, Illinois Department of Health, and Stickney Township.

In order to limit exposure to COVID-19, students will have no school on Monday, March 16. Beginning on Tuesday, March 17, we will conduct E-learning until Friday, March 27. Friday, March 20 and Monday, March 23 will no longer be days off as previously planned. Spring Break will now begin Monday, March 30, with plans to return to school on Tuesday, April 14.

PLEASE NOTE THAT E-LEARNING DAYS ARE MANDATORY SCHOOL DAYS FOR STUDENTS. All students must have their devices with them in order to complete their work. More specific details regarding the E-learning days will be sent out to students and parents.

All athletics will be suspended indefinitely beginning on Monday, March 16.

All events in this timeframe, including Fine Arts Night, Winter Sports Banquet, Father/Daughter Dance, Mother/Son Dance, National Honor Society, and Day at the Races, have been postponed. Make up dates will be announced at a later date.

Please remember that the purpose of these measures is to remain isolated from others.

Our maintenance team will continue its deep cleaning of our building, including common transmission points. We thank them for their hard work to this point in helping us maintain our safe, healthy school environment.

Please know that this is a fluid situation. As we proceed to gather information, we will remain proactive in our actions and transparent in our communication.

We understand that this could be a stressful time for our parents and students. Please find this parent resource from the National Association of School Psychologists for information on how to talk to your child about COVID-19.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and flexibility during this time as we get through this situation together. Please continue to diligently monitor your emails and phone calls from St. Laurence to ensure that you have all of the latest information.
