The freshmen and sophomore St. Laurence boys basketball teams finished up conference play this past weekend, with each team winning Chicago Catholic League championships.

A perfect 23-0 record propelled the freshmen to their conference title, the only perfect season in recent memory at any level in the boys basketball program and likely the only one in program history. The freshmen also collected championship hardware from the Leyden/St. Laurence Tournament and Riverside-Brookfield Tournament earlier in the season. Among the notable wins on the year were a 79-27 victory over St. Rita, a 59-36 win over Marist and a 71-39 win to close the season against Providence. Over the past three seasons, the freshmen A teams have a combined record of 69-4.

The sophomore team finished their championship season with a 21-5 record. The sophs also saw success in their three tournaments, finishing in second place in each of the Bremen, Big Gold and Chicago Catholic League Sophomore tournaments. The season included wins over St. Rita, Andrew and Leo.

The success of the two teams show that the future is indeed bright for the revitalized basketball program.
