The St. Laurence girls volleyball team had a historic year, winning an IHSA Regional Championship in the program’s first season. The title is the first postseason accolade in the history of girls athletics at St. Laurence.

The Vikings had an exciting postseason run, knocking off #2 seed Illiana Christian in the Regional Championship game before their home crowd. The Vikings then defeated #3 seed Evergreen Park in the Sectional Semifinals, hosted by Brooks High School. Despite a valiant effort, the Vikings fell to #1 seed Tinley Park in three sets in the Sectional Championship.

The Regional Championship trophy was their second piece of hardware this year after the team finished second at the Rich South Tournament in September. To go with their team award, junior Colleen Schmit earned all-conference honors in the GCAC.

The future is bright for the Vikings, as they return key contributors Schmit, Grace Cerrentano, Taylor Healy and Reagan Jasica next season.
