Last week, the Vikings celebrated their seventh annual Leadership Week. During Leadership Week, they recognize and honor the leaders within the school. The week was started off with a speech by Johan Khalilian, a motivational speaker from Humboldt Park, Chicago. Throughout the week, we honored students for their accomplishments in the areas of: Academics, Athletics, Alumni and Spiritual leaders.

At the conclusion of the Leadership Week, the school held an assembly to honor twelve select leaders that have made a difference with in the school and their community.  The leaders were chosen because they exemplify what, St. Laurence High School believes, each letter in the word “Leadership” stands for:

L-Loyalty

E-Empowerment

A-Attitude

D-Duty

E-Empathy

R-Respect

S-Selfless Service

H-Honor

I-Integrity

P-Personal Courage

“When I was picked as a leader it was completely unexpected and I was excited. I had no idea that I was going to be picked. I did not realize that people noticed that I was a leader. I didn’t even know that I was being a leader. I guess that’s what a leader is: doing well without knowing it.”-Matthew Shonder, Class of 2016.
