St. Laurence High School is excited to welcome Lauren Corte as a counselor beginning in the 2017-18 school year.

Corte joins St. Laurence from Queen of Peace High School, where she currently serves as Counselor, Activities Director and Student Council Moderator.

“Through the transition I have been able to work with the leaders and current students at St. Laurence and I am so excited to accept the position as Counselor,” said Corte. “My experiences working in both single gender and coeducational schools will aid me in successfully meeting the needs of all of students at St. Laurence High School. I’m looking forward to be a part of the Viking community.”

Corte received her Master of Arts in School Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University and her Bachelor of Science in Journalism/Integrated Marketing Communications and Minor in Spanish from Southern Illinois University. She also holds her Professional Educator License in School Counseling from the Illinois State Board of Education and is an Illinois Licensed Professional Counselor.

“We are thrilled to welcome Lauren to the St. Laurence family,” said St. Laurence Principal Jim Muting. “Her strong counseling background and demonstrated willingness to get involved are going to be great additions to our excellent staff. Furthermore, her familiarity with Queen of Peace students will help as we create a smooth transition for all of our students next year.”

On February 14, St. Laurence announced that it would be welcoming freshmen, sophomores and juniors from Queen of Peace for the 2017-18 school year. St. Laurence will welcome its first coed freshmen class with the Class of 2022. For more information about the coed transition, please visit
