Early Dismissal Days – Thursday, January 20th and Friday, January 21st
Next Thursday and Friday are early dismissal days for all students. Thursday will be a 1pm dismissal for all students, but we are slightly adjusting our plans for Friday. Friday will consist of assemblies for each grade level. The senior assembly will focus on the mandatory service hour requirements for graduation and the other grade level assemblies will focus on registration for next year. In order to prioritize distancing during these assemblies, each grade level will be in the gym at a different time and be dismissed after their assembly is over.
Class of 2022 (Seniors): 12:15pm Dismissal
Class of 2023 (Juniors): 12:30pm Dismissal
Class of 2024 (Sophomores): 12:45pm Dismissal
Class of 2025 (Freshmen): 1:00pm Dismissal
Students who are waiting for carpools or rides can wait in the Cafeteria and Foyer Area. A limited lunch menu will be available on both days (starting at 1pm on Thursday and 12:15pm on Friday). We appreciate your patience and support as we make adjustments to prioritize distancing and safety.
For Parents of Students Taking AP Classes
Each year, AP exams must be ordered in November for the AP exams that occur in May. All AP students registered for the exam online and received information on the cost of the exam during this online registration process with the College Board in the Fall. For the May 2022 Exams, the cost per exam is $96. This cost will be posted in FACTS in the coming days, but the fee will not be withdrawn until April 15th, 2022. All students enrolled in an AP Class are required to take the exam as the $96 exam can result in students saving thousands of dollars towards tuition if they receive a passing score (passing scores vary from college to college and subject to subject, but they are typically scores of 3 or higher out of 5). Additionally, studies show that even students who do not score passing grades on the AP exam are better prepared for college-level work from their experience in an AP class during high school. Please contact our AP Testing Coordinator, Mary Pat Pearson at
mpearson@stlaurence.com, if you have questions on the AP Exam. Please contact Bonnie Murphy at
bmurphy@stlaurence.com if you have any questions on your FACTS account.
Report Cards
First Semester Report Cards will be mailed to families early next week. Please be patient as delivery may vary based on your local post office. Grades can be viewed in PlusPortals as well.
Daily Teacher Help
Teachers are available each morning from 7:55-8:25pm to offer academic support to students. The majority of teachers have their own classroom and will be in this location each morning, but traveling teachers have designated locations where they will be and this information has been shared with students.
Peer Tutoring on SHIELD Mornings
Drop-in peer tutoring continues from 8:00-8:25 in the Resource Room on SHIELD days. Students can stop by before school Monday – Friday to get help from peers in all subject areas.
Block Day Tutoring
Additional tutoring is provided for students on Block Days. These tutoring sessions will consist of one or more teachers and peer tutors. If students would like to take advantage of this opportunity, they should eat lunch in the cafeteria after dismissal at 1pm, and go to one of the following locations at 1:30pm to receive extra help and support in the afternoon from both faculty and peers. The schedule for next week is listed below.
