Shedd The Straw
St. Laurence and Country House are proud to partner with the Shedd Aquarium for the “SHEDD THE STRAW” initiative. The goal of SHEDD THE STRAW is to inspire people to remove single-use plastic straws from their everyday life in order to reduce the amount of plastic pollution that enters our oceans, lakes and rivers. Americans use an estimated 500 million straws a day—the same weight as 1,000 cars, which is close to 3 million pounds. Straws do not biodegrade naturally in the environment. Because they are also nearly impossible to recycle, and most straw-users trash their plastic straws when done, every straw ever used most likely still exists on this planet, even if as smaller pieces of plastic.

Picture Day Make Up
If a student needs a make up or retake for their school pictures, they will take place on Tuesday, October 9. On November 7, there will be a yearbook-only picture day for seniors who did not take their senior picture over the summer. If you want to take a full session of senior pictures with different poses you can call to book an appointment at the studio in Mokena by calling (630) 910-6800. The deadline is November 6.
