St. Laurence High School officially broke ground on its new Fieldhouse on September 14, marking another major milestone in the school’s continued growth and transformation.

The approximately 34,000-square-foot facility will significantly expand opportunities for St. Laurence students and the surrounding community. The Fieldhouse will feature three indoor courts, an indoor track, locker rooms, training spaces, offices and additional amenities designed to support the school’s growing academic, athletic and extracurricular programs.

“This is much more than a new building — it is an investment in our students, our families and the entire St. Laurence community,” said St. Laurence President Joseph Martinez ’99. “As our enrollment continues to grow, we remain committed to providing our students with facilities and opportunities that match the exceptional experience taking place inside our classrooms every day.”

The groundbreaking comes during a period of remarkable growth for St. Laurence. Enrollment has climbed to nearly 1,250 students, its highest level in nearly four decades, as the school continues to draw families from across Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

The new Fieldhouse is the latest piece of a multi-year transformation of the St. Laurence campus and will provide additional space for athletics, student activities and community programming.

Construction is expected to be completed in Fall 2027.
