St. Laurence High School has officially launched the Viking Experience Institute (VEI), an innovative career exploration and experiential learning program designed to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences and help students discover potential paths for their futures.

The Viking Experience Institute brings St. Laurence’s growing career-focused programming under one comprehensive initiative, providing students with opportunities to explore nine career pathways while gaining practical experience, developing professional skills and, in many cases, earning college credit or certifications before graduation.

Pathways include areas such as Business and Marketing, Computer Science, Education, Public Safety, Health Sciences, Aviation and Medical Careers, giving students the opportunity to begin exploring their interests while still in high school.

“At St. Laurence, being college-ready means more than simply being accepted into a great university,” said St. Laurence President Joseph Martinez ’99. “We want our students to understand their strengths, explore what excites them and graduate with the experiences and confidence to make informed decisions about what comes next. The Viking Experience Institute is a major part of that commitment.”

Through VEI, students move beyond traditional classroom instruction by participating in project-based learning, working with industry professionals and community partners, solving real-world problems and gaining exposure to careers they may ultimately pursue.

The program complements St. Laurence’s robust college-preparatory curriculum, which includes the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, Advanced Placement and Dual Credit coursework.

The launch of the Viking Experience Institute represents the latest step in St. Laurence’s continued investment in innovative programming designed to prepare students not only for college, but for career and life beyond St. Laurence.
